CONCEPT
築20年を超えた国民年金保養施設を、人間の五感を呼び戻すリラクゼーションをテーマに改修したホテルプロジェクトである。 姫路市街地から数キロ離れた緑豊かな広峰山山頂付近に立地し、世界遺産の姫路城を含めた市街を一望することができる。近くには、牛頭天王の総本宮で734年に創建された広峯神社がある。計画は２段階に分けて行った。
Ⅰ期工事では、老朽化した没個性の施設全体を都市に生きる人々が忘れつつある五感を呼び戻すことをコンセプトに改修を行った。インテリア、建物周囲のランドスケープ、そして家具やカーテンまで、周辺の自然環境に敬意を払いながら、人間の身体、そして感覚に訴求するデザインを行った。
Ⅱ期工事ではチャペル施設の増設を行った。既存のRC造の施設に対し、チャペルは、周囲の自然と呼応するように、周囲に自生する樹種から素材を選んだ木の空間を挿入した。眺望の開けた南側へと拡がる台形の平面形状を持ち、既存施設の外壁より外へと突出する形態を持つ。壁面の木製格子は、日本の伝統的な紋様である六つ目編みをモチーフとした六角格子とし、昼間の自然光がチャペル空間に入射すると、チャペル周囲にガラス越しにぼやけながらそのパターンを伝える。また、チャペル南側に整備した庭園には、施設の南側に広がる姫路市街の風景に点在する山々と呼応するように築山を設けている。広峰の森の中で、日本の伝統と周囲の自然を敬い表現したチャペルである。

This project is a converted project of very old public hotel after construction with a theme which is like recalling 5 senses to human. The location is special place where few kilometer from the center of Himeji city and on almost top of Mt. Hiromine visiter can view all of this city including castle Himeji that is a world heritage. There is shrine Hiromine established in 734 as a headquarters of its sect. The project was dividing into 2 steps. At the first step, a renovation of so old hotel with the theme for recalling 5 senses to human in urban city was done. In the renovation, we were particular with the design for human body and senses with respect for nature around the site, At the second step, the construction of new chapel was built. We inserted into chapel by original wooden material from around the environment of the site as opposition of existed facility by RC. The chapel has a trapezoid plan like opening to south-side for nice view with the form like sticking out from existing building for accommodation. The pattern of lattice for wall is in a Japanese traditional motif from hexagon. The pattern rose to the surface of wall by glass when the natural sunlight is shining in through the inside of chapel. Some small hills were designed for garden in south side of chapel like concord to mountains around Himeji city to the chapel.
The chapel was represented Japanese tradition and respect to nature in the forest of Mt.Hiromine.
